Your group will be assigned one of the following topics.  You will be responsible for explaining the significant imperialism related stories in each of the listed areas.

  • Research the details of Western imperialism in the area listed for the case studies. 
    • You are required to use at least THREE of the databases, websites, and documents listed on the LibGuide. 
    • You are required to located at least ONE additional source, either online or text. 
  • Use NoodleTools to compile your bibliography and add it to your presentation (see instructions). Use NoodleTools to share your project bibliography with your group. 
  • Images are REQUIRED on every slide EXCEPT on the Title and Big Picture.  They are only optional on these slides.

Group Evaluation As part of the project, each individual student will be required to complete an evaluation of the work you did together. You will not receive credit for the project until you have submitted your group evaluation.

Group evaluations will be submitted via the drop box and remain confidential (within reason) from other members of the group. However, it is expected that students will be honest and respectful in evaluating the contributions of themselves and other group members to the overall effort.

Teacher Evaluation This project is worth 50 points.  All group members will receive the same grade for the project presentation. You will be evaluated in the following categories:

  • Required Elements
    • Did you follow the directions and complete all the necessary tasks?
  • Historical Information
    • Did you thoroughly research the topic and provide a strong view of the people and events involved in the topic?
  • Historical Analysis
    • Did you connect the historical facts to the major trends and big ideas of the subject?
  • Visual Quality
    • Is the presentation easy to read?  Do the images enhance the learning about the historical subject?
  • Oral Presentation Skills
    • Is the presentation audible?  Do all group members effectively communicate the information to the class?
  • Academic Impression
    • Does the project communicate the important key ideas effectively to the class?
  • Overall Impression
    • How strong is this project?  Does it reflect excellence, competence, mediocrity, or incompetence?

Submission

The Group PowerPoint must be submitted to the drop box by 8 AM the morning of Tuesday, February 11 See the portal for additional information on other tasks.

Important Reminders:

  • Use the recommended research materials
  • Be sure that your presentation covers the material on the worksheet
  • Use the sample PowerPoint as a guide for formatting your presentation
