Project Overview

 

  • Topic Selection: In consultation with the teacher, you will select a unique topic for this project.
  • Research: You will conduct research using the sources listed to learn about your topic, including those in our library with the guidance of the librarians. You will create a bibliography of the sources you utilize in NoodleTools.
  • Notetaking: You will create notecards of the key information in your sources using NoodleTools as a platform.
  • Writing: You will write an in-class essay in response to a prompt using your notecards.

Notecard Information

What do I need to look for in the sources to put on the notecards for the essay?

  • Explanation: You need to know the basics of your topic. Who? What? Where? When? Why?
  • Causation: What were the causes that led to your topic? What were its effects?
  • Significance: Why was this an important historical development? Why did it matter then, and why might it still matter today

Notes for Research and Topics

  • Some of these topics will have alternative names and/or spellings. Be sure to take note of these as soon as you discover them.
  • The focus of this project is on the Middle Ages, but some of your sources may have information on some of these topics beyond that time period. For the purposes of this assignment, you need to stick to information within the years from 700 to 1500 AD.
  • Be sure to photocopy the title pages with the bibliographical information for your book source.
  • Be sure to save a copy of the file of electronic articles to your hard drive for easy access later.
